Back in July we posted this photo on our Facebook page and shouldn’t have been surprised that it was the most “Liked” and “Shared” image to date!! Here are a few reasons why we got the reaction we did…
According to the US Humane Society there are approximately 78.2 million owned dogs in the US with 39% of US households sharing their space with at least one dog. In fact, the most recent census shows that there are now more households with pets than children in the United States.
It’s not just that many households own dogs, but that dogs are an important part of our lives. Recent national data show that 85% of dog guardians think of their dog as part of the family. But where it really gets interesting is that 94% of dog guardians feel a strong closeness to their dog. This is greater than the percent feeling close to their mothers (87%), cats (84%), and fathers (74%).
So we thought we’d combine two of our favorite things – “tile and dogs”
and share with you
how dog people have integrated clever canine design into their homes. Although I’m betting that when we’re gone, it’s still our favorite chair, sofa, or bed that our furry friends curl up on!
Mosaic. By definition a picture or pattern produced by arranging together small pieces of stone, tile, or glass. In our industry we’re surrounded by this art form and are adept in finding ways to incorporate it into everyday design. But once the showroom doors are closed, and we begin to open our eyes, we find that often in everyday life combinations of diverse elements come together to create a different kind of mosaic. Whether it be the patterns in a rice fields, the shimmering beads of a couture gown, or the whimsical tentacles of a sea creature, this weeks Pinterest Board proves that Life is a Mosaic.
Our new advertising campaign – which you can find in magazines like Architectural Digest and Luxe
Interiors - has garnered a lot of positive attention, which is certainly gratifying. Most people only see the finished product of an ad, but a lot of work goes on behind the scenes. From the initial concept, to building sets, selecting props, casting models and the shoot itself, everything has to come together in concert to create the final polished piece.
During our last shoot, we had some creative friends from Minx Films come by to shoot some video, and they made this cool little”behind the scenes” film that packs three long days of photography into 3 minutes. Enjoy!
